Parallel Polis 2030 is an ideological counterbalance to the carbon state, an incubator for the ideas of activists, thinkers, philosophers, scientists, and artists who resist the profiteers responsible for climate annihilation, the impotent governments they control, and the drift into fascism. The parallel polis concept and community serves as an alternative to authoritarian structures and provides hope and options during bad times.

Parallel Polis 2030 presents the opportunity to join forces in creating, slowly but surely, parallel structures that are capable, at least to a limited degree, of supplementing the necessary functions and freedoms missing in the carbon state. New ideas and alternative ways of daily life need encouragement, spaces and processes where people can go to learn, organize, and experience meaningful bonds of trust and affection. Reawakening the radically human individual is a precondition for reasserting freedom on a broader scale.

Nurtured and expanded over time, Parallel Polis 2030 will prepare for carbon state's collapse upon itself, while softening the blow through the creation of new forms of resistance and alternative ways of living. In other words, initial immature and small-scale efforts will be justified by what is to come.  Its future variety and scale, tethered to a commitment of nonviolence and appreciation for scientific truth, will give Parallel Polis 2030 a decisive advantage of readiness for the soon-to-come disruptions caused by ecological overshoot.
