What does it mean to be radically human?

Is there one definition?  Will an activist's response differ from that of an artist, or spiritual teacher, or unhoused person, or ecologist, or academic? And given climate collapse, should different definitions converge on the threat of mass extinction?

Does being radically human require transcending our carbon state lifestyle? Do we need to become more self-reliant, acknowledging we are one species in a world of many species and recognizing that we’ve proved harmful to other species? Or is it possible to remain neutral in the conflict between those threatened with extinction and the carbon elites responsible for climate annihilation?

How will understanding climate science help us face the future with realistic optimism? And what about guilt? We all, to some extent, live in a carbon society of faked novelty, phony news, illusionary fulfillment, increasingly trivial upgrades, surveillance, attention theft, and the pressure to document every aspect of our lives. How do we prevent guilt, sadness, or anxiety from stopping our resistance, how do we learn to be willing to sacrifice, even if the future proves difficult and our companions few?
